SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Volleyball took down Dallas for a gritty 3-1 win, 25-11, 25-17, 21-25, 25-23, Saturday evening at Memorial Gymnasium.

The Bulldogs improved to 8-4 on the season and picked up their second SCAC win to open the conference slate.

Zaria Solis (Burnet/Burnet) led TLU with ten kills and hit .368 in the match. Hailey Pennison (Tomball/Homeschool) had a breakout performance with a season-high nine kills, her most in her first season as a Bulldog.

Briana Salvatierra-Moore (San Antonio/Antonian College Prep), Andie Lozano-Lomeli (Brownsville/Pace), and Moriah Williams (San Antonio/Roosevelt) all had two blocks. Lozano-Lomeli also had seven kills, hitting .250 in the match. Ava Search (Richmond/Needville) finished with six kills, 15 digs, a block, and two service aces.

Ella Waterbury (Buda/Johnson) dished out a career-high 15 assists and added 11 digs for her second career double-double. Naomi Gamboa (San Antonio/Warren) led TLU with 18 digs and added a dig and a service ace.

Texas Lutheran finished the opening set with a 19-5 run to win the set 25-11. Solis had five kills, hitting .400 in the set. The Bulldogs outhit the Crusaders .241 to -.226 in the opening set.

The Bulldogs took a 2-0 lead with a 25-17 second set win. TLU went on a 7-0 run through the middle of the set and never looked back.

Fifteen Bulldogs saw the floor in the third set, but despite attempting to showcase their depth, the Bulldogs dug themselves a hole they couldn't quite get out of. TLU led 19-12 before the Crusaders battled back to tie the set 21-21 and closing the set with a 4-0 run to avoid the sweep with a 25-21 win.

The fourth set was tightly contested and back-and-forth as the Bulldogs had to hold on for a narrow 25-23 win to clinch the match.

The Bulldogs are back at home for a SCAC Divisional Weekend during homecoming weekend in Seguin next weekend starting with a matchup against Hendrix on Friday, Oct. 2.
