GEORGETOWN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Volleyball fell to Southwestern, 3-0 (25-20, 25-14, 25-22), on Tuesday night at the Robertson Center in Georgetown.
Zaria Solis (Burnet/Burnet) led the Bulldogs (6-4) with a team-high five kills and two blocks, while
Ava Search (Richmond/Needville) added four kills and 13 digs.
Addison Gallegos (Floresville/Jourdanton) paced Texas Lutheran with 12 assists and added five digs.
The game started with the two teams feeling each other out before an 8-8 tie quickly turned into a 17-11 Pirates lead. The Bulldogs fought to close the gap but were never able to overtake Southwestern as they took the opening set 25-20.
The Pirates led the second set wire-to-wire, taking a 2-0 lead behind a 25-14 set win.
The third set was the most contested set of the night with 12 ties and eight lead changes. The set went back-and-forth with neither team able to get an advantage before TLU took a 21-18 lead, forcing a Pirates timeout. The Bulldogs weren't able to hold off the Pirates to avoid the sweep, with the home team closing out the match 25-22.
The Bulldogs start SCAC play on Saturday, Sept. 26 when they host #23 Colorado College and Dallas. First serve is set for 12 PM and 4 PM. The matches will be streamed on FloCollege. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
