SEGUIN, Texas -- Five Bulldogs were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, the CSC announced Tuesday.
Junior position players Cady Bowyer (Fulshear/Jordan) and Chesley Swisher (Cypress/Bridgeland), senior pitcher Katelyn Howard (Waller/Hempstead), senior designated player Serena Gonzalez (Corpus Christi/Foy H. Moody), and senior catcher Taylor Vannett (Kingwood/Kingwood) all earned Academic All-District status. Gonzalez, Howard, and Vannett each advanced to the Academic All-America ballot. Gonzalez was named a Second Team Academic All-American last season.
The 2026 Academic All-District® Softball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
The five selections match the 2021, 2024, and 2025 squads for the most in program history.
First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 16, 2026. A whopping 20 Bulldogs have earned Academic All-America honors under head coach Wade Wilson. TLU Softball accounts for one-third of Texas Lutheran's all-time CSC/CoSIDA Academic All-Americans.
