SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Men's Tennis defeated Schreiner, 5-2, on Senior Day at TLU's Ohlenbusch-Rinn Tennis Center Saturday afternoon. The win marks their fourth win in their last six matches and keeps their SCAC Tournament hopes alive entering the final weekend of the regular season.
Prior to the match, Texas Lutheran recognized seniors Cash Herrera (New Braunfels/New Braunfels), Jackson Leslie (New Braunfels/New Braunfels), Eric Moninger (New Braunfels/New Braunfels/New Braunfels), and Logan Randall (Idalou/Idalou) in pre-match Senior Day festivities - recognizing their accomplishments and thanking him for their contributions to the program. Thank you Cash, Jackson, Eric, and Logan for everything over the course of the last four years.
Texas Lutheran trailed early, dropping the doubles point. Despite losing the point, the team of senior Logan Randall and Barrett Spaar (Spring Branch/Smithson Valley) were able to earn a 6-3 victory in No. 3 doubles, their sixth win together this season.
Texas Lutheran won five out of six singles matches to rally for their seventh win of the season and fourth SCAC win.
Seniors Cash Herrera, Eric Moninger and Jackson Leslie all won their final matches at the ORTC. Freshman Barrett Spaar clinched the victory with a 6-1, 6-2 victory and fellow freshman Ajonte St. Ville (St. John's, Antigua and Barbuda/AESA Prep International (TX)) picked up a victory in straight sets in No. 2 singles. Herrera leads the Bulldogs with seven singles victories so far this season.
Up next, Texas Lutheran will begin their final road trip of the regular season as they travel to Arkansas for their first of two matches beginning on Friday, April 17 against Hendrix. First serve is set for 3 PM.
