THIS WEEK
#RV TLU heads out of state to Conway, Arkansas, this week for competition at the SCAC Tournament. No. 2 seeded TLU (18-7) opens up in the quarterfinals on Friday (Feb. 27) against Ozarks (AR) at 7 p.m. to fight for a spot in the Feb. 28 semifinals. The SCAC Championship game is set for 2 p.m. on Sunday (March 1). All the action takes place at Grove Gymnasium on the campus of Hendrix College.

Texas Lutheran has received votes in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Top 25 Polls throughout the 2026 season. Entering the tournament, Texas Lutheran has received votes in the WBCA Top 25 Poll for 24 straight weeks dating back to last season where the Bulldogs reached as high as No. 24 in the country. Texas Lutheran also briefly received votes in the D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll early in the season. Texas Lutheran enters the tournament ranked #87 in the NCAA Division-III NPI (NCAA Power Index) Rankings that determine the qualifiers for the NCAA Tournament.

• Texas Lutheran has only been lower than the No. 2 seed once in five seasons under head coach Troy Patterson.
• Texas Lutheran currently ranks 22nd in Division-III in free throw percentage (74.6).
• TLU is 1-4 against teams currently ranked in the NPI top-50.
• TLU's 8-0 start matched the 2024-25 team for the best start to SCAC play for Texas Lutheran since joining the conference in 2013-14.
• Lauren Sansano (San Antonio/FEAST) has taken over for Amy Doyle as TLU No. 2 all-time assist leader in the program's NCAA history (310 assists). She ranks third all-time over the program's entire history. Sansano also ranks third in the program's NCAA history in steals (172) while ranking ninth all-time regardless of era in points scored (1,142).
• Sansano posted a triple-double (23 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists) while adding a career-high six steals in the Bulldogs 85-61 triumph against Ozarks (AR) on Jan. 9. Sansano became the first Bulldog with a 20+ point triple-double in program history, earning D3hoops.com Team of the Week honors.
• Sansano's 33-point performance against St. Thomas on Jan. 30 was the first 30+ point performance since Cami Davis (30) against UMHB in 2017 and the most in a single-game since Taylor Dydalewicz scored 36 points against UMHB in 2014.
• Sansano hit at least one 3-pointer in all but seven games this season.
• Sarahi Jones (Los Fresnos/Los Fresnos) became the seventh player in the program's NCAA history to reach the 500-rebound milestone, currently ranking fifth all-time in the NCAA-era (556 rebounds).
• Davi'Yanna Jones (San Antonio/Stevens), Sarahi Jones, and Lauren Sansano all tied with McMurry's Helena Chadwick for the SCAC lead with two SCAC Offensive Player of the Week honors this season.
• TLU is 11-1 this season when holding opponents under 60.
BATTLING ADVERSITY
Much like last season, the Bulldogs have faced adversity with multiple players suffering injuries this season. This season the Bulldogs have had 46 missed games by rotational players. Three players on the Bulldogs roster suffered season ending injuries.
ON THE GLASS
The Bulldogs are 17-2 this season when they out rebound their opponent. Texas Lutheran has been effective on the offensive glass as they rank second in the SCAC in rebounds per game (39.9). Forward Sarahi Jones ranks fifth in the SCAC in rebounds, averaging 7.8 per game, and second in total defensive rebounds (151). Texas Lutheran has won the offensive glass in 15 games this season.
SCAC TOURNAMENT TAKE
Texas Lutheran is 13-8 all-time in the SCAC Tournament since joining the league for the 2013-14 season. Head coach Troy Patterson is 4-3 in the event.
The Bulldogs have reached the tournament championship game five times with tournament championships in 2014, 2019, and 2025.
