Three Different Goal Scorers Power Women's Soccer Past Howard Payne

BROWNWOOD, Texas -- Powered by a trio of goal scorers and an impressive 2025 season debut for senior Callie Brame (San Antonio/Churchill), the Texas Lutheran women's soccer team came away with a 3-1 result against the previously undefeated Howard Payne Yellow Jackets Saturday afternoon at Citizens National Bank Field in Brownwood.

Texas Lutheran picked up its second consecutive victory to start the season 2-0 for the first time since 2019.

Texas Lutheran dominated the stat sheet on Saturday, finishing the match with a 20-13 shot differential and a 10-4 advantage in shots on goal. TLU also mustered a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Individually, after missing the 2025 season opener due to injury Callie Brame recorded the first two assist game of her career.

Senior defender Ashlyn Suarez (Schertz/Clemens) got the scoring started with a ninth minute goal coming courtesy of Brame's first helper of the day. The Bulldogs would maintain the 1-nil advantage for the remaining 36 minutes as the TLU defense limited the Yellow Jackets to just two shots in the first half.

Kristina Cromwell (Spring/Klein Collins), the reigning SCAC Offensive Player of the Week, continued to make her presence felt, netting her third goal of the season in the 60th minute.

Rounding out the trio of Texas Lutheran scorers was sophomore Lilly Noblett (San Antonio/Warren) who netted her first goal of the season via assists from Klarissa Martinez (Houston/Incarnate Word Academy) and Brame. Noelani Ajel (Cibolo/Steele) was the lone Bulldog to go the distance and play all 90 minutes for the Bulldogs.

Between the posts, Alysa Marquez (Miami, FL/Dr. Michael Krop) got the start and made one save in the first half before giving way to Skylar LeBlanc (League City/Clear Falls) who picked up the win, booking two saves and allowing one goal in the second half to complete the match.

Texas Lutheran continues its eight match road trip with a pair of exhibitions starting on Sunday, Sept. 7, as the Bulldogs travel to Edinburg to face Division-I UT-Rio Grande Valley in an exhibition scheduled to kick off at 11 AM. The match will be streamed on ESPN+. The Bulldogs follow that match with a trip to Laredo for an exhibition match against Division-II Texas A&M International on Wednesday, Sept 10 at 7 PM in a match that will be streamed on FloCollege.
