SEGUIN, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran Men's Soccer team (1-1-1) drew 1-1 against the Marymount University (VA) Saints to open a three-match homestand Friday night.
Shots were at a premium early before
Evan Pacheco (San Antonio/Central Catholic) dished off a pass to freshman
Max Guzman (San Marcos/San Marcos) for his first collegiate goal in the 20th minute to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.
TLU would carry the 1-0 lead into halftime with the Saints having seven shots but none on target.
The second half was exponentially more physical and the intensity rose as the game went on as the two teams combined for 15 fouls and six yellow cards in the half.
Marymount tied the contest 1-1 at the 79:20 mark and that is where the game would conclude as neither team was able to break the draw in the final 11 minutes.
Marymount led TLU in shots 14-9 but TLU held a 4-3 advantage in shots on goal and a 4-1 advantage in corners.
TLU continues their non-conference homestand with a Sunday evening match up with Howard Payne at 4 PM. The match will be streamed on FloCollege. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
