#RV Trinity Tops #RV Texas Lutheran in Season Opener

SEGUIN, Texas -- #RV Texas Lutheran's Caleb Camarillo (Gonzales/Southside) caught three balls for 95 yards and a touchdown and Marvin Farris (Rosenberg/Lamar Consolidated) tallied a team-high ten tackles but #RV Trinity rolled to 170 yards rushing to post a season-opening 26-14 win over the Bulldogs on Thursday night at Bulldog Stadium.

With the loss, the Tigers handed the Bulldogs their first loss at Bulldog Stadium since losing to McMurry on Nov. 4, 2023, snapping their six-game home winning streak. The Bulldogs continue their non-conference schedule and return to action at Bulldog Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 13 as they welcome the Howard Payne Yellow Jackets to Seguin. The game is scheduled for a 6 PM kickoff and will be streamed on FloCollege. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.

After a slow first quarter that saw the Tigers lead 7-0 at the end of the period, the two teams totaled 33 points in the second quarter. A six-yard rushing touchdown from Weston Guzman (McAllen/McAllen) put TLU on the board for the first time in the 2025 season and tied the game at seven early in the second quarter. Trinity would rattle off 16 unanswered points to take a 23-7 lead before TLU would responded with a 73-yard touchdown pass from Caden Bosanko (San Antonio/East Central) to Caleb Camarillo. With the reception, Camarillo became the first Bulldog since Jekovan Holmes (1,546) to eclipse 1,000 yards receiving in their TLU career, sitting at 1,092 after Thursday's contest.

Trinity stretched its lead to 26-14 by connecting on a 47-yard field goal with eight seconds remaining in the first half.

Turnovers would dictate the second half as neither team was able to find the end zone despite sustaining a number of long drives. Marec Square (Houston/Lamar) collected his second career interception in the third quarter.

Texas Lutheran went for 252 yards of total offense, including 175 yards passing and 77 yards rushing. Trinity collected 355 yards, including 170 yards rushing and 185 yards passing.

Bosanko threw for 164 yards and a touchdown on 10-of-25 passing while leading the Bulldogs with 43 yards rushing on ten carries. Guzman carried the ball six times for 25 yards and a touchdown. Caleb Camarillo led all receivers with 95 yards receiving while Ja'Mare Nichols (San Antonio/Roosevelt) led the team with four receptions for 51 yards.

Defensively, the Bulldogs were led by Marvin Farris, who had ten tackles, while Justin Navarro (Edinburg/Robert Vela) and Nicola Pari (San Antonio/Churchill) chipped in six tackles each with Pari finishing with 1.5 tackles for loss in his collegiate debut.
