SHERMAN, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran men's soccer team earned a point against Austin College with a 2-2 draw at Dr. Jack R. Pierce Memorial Soccer Complex Friday night. The Bulldogs go to 2-3-2 (0-0-1 SCAC) on the season while the 'Roos are now 1-3-2 (0-0-1 SCAC).
Senior
Evan Bremauntz (Grapevine/Colleyville Heritage) and freshman
Jesus Carrillo (San Antonio/Reagan) each scored for the Bulldogs while
Evan Pacheco (San Antonio/Central Catholic) tallied an assist.
Overall, the Bulldogs outshot Austin College, 24-3, including a 10-3 edge in shots on goal. TLU also held a 12-1 advantage on corner kicks.
In the first half, Texas Lutheran outshot Austin College, 9-0, but all three shots on target were turned away by the 'Roos keeper.
With the game still scoreless into the second half, the Bulldogs took the lead in the 62nd minute as Bremauntz broke the draw with a penalty kick.
The Bulldogs doubled their lead as Pacheco found Carrillo for an easy goal to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead at the 85:26 mark.
Seventeen seconds later, the 'Roos showed signs of life as they cut the TLU lead in half on a header at 85:43. The 'Roos earned a penalty kick of their own in the 86th minute to tie the game in a hectic two minute sequence.
The Bulldogs will travel to Longview to face the LeTourneau Yellowjackets on Sunday, Sept. 28, with kickoff scheduled for 2 PM. The match will be streamed on FloCollege. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
