SEGUIN, Texas -- Two first half goals sparked the Texas Lutheran men's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Hardin-Simmons on the opening night of the 2025 season Friday night at Gustafson Field.
A 12th-minute goal from freshman Jesus Carrillo (San Antonio/Reagan) gave the Bulldogs their first goal of the 2025 season as the freshman netted his first career goal via an assist from fellow freshman Max Guzman (San Marcos/San Marcos).
The Bulldogs doubled their lead right before halftime as Ben Gutierrez (Houston/Sam Houston) guided one in for his first collegiate goal.
Freshman goalkeeper Ernesto Avila (Houston/Humble) earned his first career shutout and win.
Texas Lutheran will travel to Belton to face Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday, August 30, at Cru Soccer Field at 6:30 PM. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
