BLOOMINGTON, IL -- No. 9 Texas Lutheran softball's season came to an end Friday night at the Division-III Women's College World Series, falling to No. 11 Redlands, 2-0.
Texas Lutheran (44-5) fell behind early after the Bulldogs (40-10) scored two runs in the bottom of the first.
Texas Lutheran attempted to rally throughout but would strand eight runners on base on Friday. The Bulldogs best opportunity came in the fifth following a leadoff, pinch-hit double from Missy Muras (La Grange/La Grange) the Bulldogs would load the bases but nothing would come of it as they would strand the bases loaded. Back-to-back two out walks in the seventh gave the Bulldogs one final opportunity to get on the board but Redlands was able to work out of the jam yet again to bring the Bulldogs season to a close.
Stranded runners was the story of the World Series for the Bulldogs as they stranded 15 runners on base over the course of the two games.
Senior Amanda White (Lockhart/Lockhart) got the start in the circle for the Bulldogs and would toss a complete game to end her career - allowing two runs on six hits, striking out one batter. With that appearance, White tied Stacy McDonald's record of 35 appearances in a single season, something no Bulldogs pitcher has done since 2000.
This season marked the fourth trip to the Division-III Women's College World Series in program history, a year that also saw Texas Lutheran claim its 11th straight Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) regular season championship, make its 11th straight NCAA regional appearance and win its third Super Regional. This was also a record breaking season for the Bulldogs, marking the fifth time they have eclipsed 40 wins with a 44-5 record, falling one shy of the 45-win program record set in 2022. The 2025 Texas Lutheran softball team is forever etched in history after setting the NCAA Division-III record for stolen bases for the third time in four seasons, stealing 236 bases on the season - led by Caelee Clark (64) (Montgomery/Lake Creek) and Annie Kay (63) (Sinton/Sinton). The duo combined for the most stolen bases by a pair of teammates in a single-season in NCAA Division-III history. The team also won a program record 29 conference games in 2025 which featured the SCAC's largest conference slate to date.
Individually, All-American Annie Kay set the program's new single-season hits mark of 71, becoming the first player in program history to reach 70 hits in a single-season. Serena Gonzalez (Corpus Christi/Foy H. Moody) set new program records in single-season (14) and career (25) home runs as well as single-season RBI (61) and slugging percentage (.817). Gonzalez is the first player to reach 60 RBI and slug over .800 in a single-season in program history. Katelyn Howard (Waller/Hempstead) matched Ashlyn Strother (2022) and Chassety Raines's (2019) program record for single-season winning percentage (1.000), finishing the season 10-0. In addition to her single-season record for appearances, All-American Amanda White set a new program record for saves in a season with seven.
The Bulldogs - a team picked to finish first in the SCAC preseason poll - conclude the 2025 season with a 44-5 record, going 29-1 in the SCAC to claim their 11th straight SCAC regular season championship in addition to winning both an NCAA Regional and Super Regional. The Bulldogs will graduate a 13-member senior class: Missy Muras, Brooklyn Stone (Rancho Cucamonga, CA/Alta Loma), Tavery Ortiz (Texas City/Texas City), Bridgette Montes (Burleson/Burleson), Bella Rodriguez (Pearland/Pearland), Amanda White, Annie Kay, Riley Futrell (Florence/Florence), Ainsley Davis (Rockwall/Jesuit (OR)), Faith Hernandez (Dinuba, CA/Dinuba), Grace Smith (Galveston/Ball), Kylee Jack (Richwood/Brazoswood), and Linzee Leal (Corpus Christi/Mary Carroll). This group of seniors has been a part of two of the best seasons in program history, graduating with a career record of 162-21 (.885) - claiming six SCAC Championships (four regular season and two tournament) and making two Women's College World Series appearances together.
