No. 2-Seed A&T Advances to First DIII Tournament Finals, Flies Past No. 3-Seed Concordia Wisconsin

BUFFALO, NY -- For the first time in program history, Texas Lutheran acrobatics and tumbling will compete for a Division-III championship. The TLU acrobatics and tumbling team (6-3) defeated third-seeded Concordia University Wisconsin 237.835-227.810 and will face 7th-ranked and tournament number one-seed, Mary Hardin-Baylor in the final on Saturday at 10 AM ET/9 AM CT at Buffalo State Sports Arena in Buffalo, New York.

The Bulldogs overcame an early deficit, the Bulldogs won 15 of the 19 heats and already had a commanding lead of 8.375 points going into the team event. The Bulldogs beat the Falcons (6-3) by 10.025 points for the win in the first-time matchup between the two programs.

Starting off the meet, Texas Lutheran had a Compulsory score of 32.825. A score of 8.6 was garnered in Acro, 9.6 in Pyramid, 9.45 in Toss and a 5.175 in Tumbling. Headed into the second event, TLU trailed CUW by 0.35 points as the Falcons totaled 33.175 in compulsory
 
Moving into the optional portion of the meet, Texas Lutheran started their rally as they had a score of 9.6 in Heat 1 (5-Element), 7.750 in Heat 2 (6-Element) and 9.450 in Heat 3 (7-Element) of Acro to total 26.800 for the event. The Falcons had scores of 7.715, 7.725, and 8.500 respectively, for a total of 23.400 as the Bulldogs took the lead and never looked back. 
 
In the Pyramid event, the Bulldogs earned a program-record 9.900 out of 10.0 in Heat 1, the inversion heat. In heat two, TLU earned a 9.675 in the synchronized heat. In heat three, the open heat, the Bulldogs scored 9.725. With the event scoring a 29.35, the running total was updated to 88.975 for Texas Lutheran. Concordia totaled 28.00 for the event and had a score of 84.575 going into halftime, the Bulldogs up by 4.4 points.

In the Toss Event, Texas Lutheran had scores of 8.925, 8.225, and 7.700, respectively, to total 24.850 for the event. The Falcons scored an 8.800, 7.765 and 7.400, respectively, to total 23.875.

Despite the Falcons winning three heats, the Bulldogs continued to pull away by winning the tumbling event, 46.450-43.450. The tumbling event was highlighted by a 9.050 out of 9.55 in the duo pass, a 9.40 out of 9.55 in the aerial pass, a 7.750 in the six-element pass, and 9.325 out of 9.550 in the open pass.

In the Team event, Texas Lutheran earned a score of 77.600 while the Falcons earned a 75.910, bringing the meet score to a total 237.875 to 227.810, with TLU taking the win.
