SEGUIN, Texas -- #RV Texas Lutheran Baseball defeated Southwestern 16-6 in seven innings on Sunday at Katt-Isbel Field to complete the three-game series sweep. The Bulldogs improve to 20-7 on the season and 13-5 in SCAC play.

Kash Durkin (Liberty Hill/Liberty Hill) led the Bulldogs offense, going 4-for-4 with two doubles, four RBI, and scoring three runs. Brayden Sprencel (Robstown/Calallen), Cooper Jen (Kyle/Hays), and Chase Bourgeois (League City/Clear Falls) each had two hits and two RBI on the afternoon with Jen and Bourgeois scoring three runs each.

After two scoreless innings, a bases loaded walk to Sprencel and a passed ball to score Durkin gave the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead in the third.

Southwestern responded with a three-run homer in the fourth to take their first lead of the game.

Texas Lutheran responded in the bottom of the inning as an infield RBI single from Durkin tied the game, 3-3. Kameron Miller (Kenedy/Kenedy) put the Bulldogs ahead with an RBI groundout in the fifth.

The Pirates got on the board with a sacrifice fly in the sixth to tie the game 4-4.

The Bulldogs bats came alive in the sixth, sending 15 batters to the plate to score 11 runs on eight hits to take a 15-4 lead. Mason Goudeau (Liberty/Liberty) led off the inning with a single before Chase Bourgeois was hit by a pitch ahead of a two-RBI double from Durkin. Following a Pirates pitching change, Drew Burnett (Seguin/Seguin) hit an RBI triple. Sprencel hit an RBI single to score Burnett before walks loaded the bases for Chance Greene (Round Rock/Stony Point) who drew a bases loaded walk ahead of a two-RBI single from Jen. Doubles from Bourgeois and Durkin and an RBI single from Peavy drove in the final four runs of the massive inning to push the game into run-rule territory.

A pair of Pirates runs in the top of the seventh delayed the run-rule for half an inning as the Bulldogs walked it off on a walk off wild pitch.

Triston McGowan (Vidor/Vidor) pitched six solid innings to earn the win, allowing four runs (two earned) on four hits and four walks and striking out four. Vlario Prado (New Braunfels/San Marcos) pitched the final inning, allowing two runs on two hits.

The Bulldogs are back on the road this week as they will head to Sugar Land to face the St. Thomas Celts in a three-game series starting on Friday, April 4.
