#RV Bulldogs Take Down Schreiner on Senior Day, 79-61

SEGUIN, Texas -- #RV TLU (17-3, 11-1 SCAC) defeated Schreiner (5-16, 3-9 SCAC) Saturday evening, 79-61, as it hosted its annual senior day in front of a packed Memorial Gymnasium crowd, ending their 2024-25 home slate with an 8-2 record.

Kailee Mulkey (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) finished the day with 11 points and 11 rebounds off the bench for her second double-double of the season. Mulkey also tied with fellow senior Juliett Martinez (San Antonio/Reagan) for a team-high three steals. With the steals, Mulkey became just the third player in program history to eclipse 200 career steals and drew within seven steals of becoming TLU's all-time leader in steals in the NCAA-era. Callista Perez (San Antonio/Stevens) added 10 points off the bench as the only other Bulldog to finish in double figures.

Sarahi Jones (Los Fresnos/Los Fresnos) and Juliett Martinez followed with nine points and four assists each. Elexis Morado (Kingsville/Santa Gertrudis Academy) and Emerald St. Laurent (The Woodlands/Oak Ridge) finished with eight points each while Morado grabbed seven rebounds. Juliana Tapia (San Antonio/O'Connor) added four points, six rebounds, and dished out a career-high five assists.

Texas Lutheran forced 20 turnovers that turned into 23 points while only turning the ball over 11 times. TLU maintained a slight 42-38 advantage over the Mountaineers in the paint. The TLU bench outscored the Schreiner bench 49-11.

In the first quarter, Texas Lutheran came out and gave an immediate gut punch to the Mountaineers via a four-point play from senior Chaeli Criddle (Canyon Lake/FEAST), outscoring the Mountaineers 16-10 in the period despite disrupting normal rotations to honor their senior class. Criddle and Sarahi Jones led the Bulldogs with four points each in the first.

Kailee Mulkey led the Bulldogs with seven points in the second as TLU carried a 35-23 lead into halftime. Texas Lutheran cruised the rest of the way, leading by as many as 24 points in the fourth quarter.

Prior to Saturday's game, Texas Lutheran recognized its seven player senior class: Criddle, Tapia, Martinez, Morado, Mulkey, Audry Hornaday (Mission/Sharyland), and Irianna Rollins (Pflugerville/Connally).

Up next, TLU begins a four-game road trip to close the 2024-25 regular season on Friday, February 14, as they travel to San Antonio for a rematch with the Trinity Tigers. Tip-off is set for 5:30 PM. The game will be streamed on Trinity's Tiger Network on YouTube. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
