Mason Wallace (San Antonio/Judson) scored a career-high 29 points and 11 rebounds for his second double-double of the season and junior guard
Kolin Polk (Lafayette, LA/Manvel (TX)) had a career-high 16 points as Texas Lutheran held on for a 75-73 road victory over Southwestern Friday night at the Robertson Center in Georgetown.
In a rematch from earlier this season, the Bulldogs (3-3) led for the entire second half, leading by as many as 11 points. Southwestern rallied behind a barrage of second half threes on their senior night and had a chance to win it late but rimmed out at the buzzer.
Wallace finished 11-of-13 from the free throw line and scored 13 of his 29 points in the second half. Wallace added three assists and two steals, both team-highs. Polk finished 4-of-5 from beyond the arc to produce a career night on Friday.
Teddy Tapken (Austin/Lake Travis) and
Jediah Chavarin-Rivens (Weslaco/Weslaco East) added eight points each with Tapken adding four rebounds and three assists.
The Bulldogs held an advantage in free throw attempts and took advantage, making 17-of-26 to the Pirates 8-of-20.
TLU had their best shooting performance of the season, shooting 48 percent from the field while holding the Pirates to 38.8 percent shooting.
Texas Lutheran will shift their focus to finishing the academic semester before traveling to Memphis to play in the Rhodes Holiday Classic, opening the four-team tournament against Mississippi University for Women (MUW) on Saturday, December 20.
