Bulldogs Light Up Lyon, 54-10

BATESVILLE, AR -- The Bulldogs extended their win streak to five games with their fourth 50-plus point game of the season, by dominating Lyon College (AR) on the road Saturday, 54-10, at Bad Boy Mowers Stadium in Batesville, Arkansas.

The Bulldogs (6-3, 5-0 SCAC) finished Saturday's game with 602 total yards, just seven yards off the season-high. Texas Lutheran rushed for 360 yards to cross the 350-yard plateau for the second time this season.

The Bulldogs led 34-3 at halftime, by which point Reece Deitrick (Austin/Canyon) was finished with a 11-of-22, 190-yard passing performance with two touchdowns while adding 50 yards of his own on the ground. His last of the first half was a 63-yard connection to Caleb Camarillo (Gonzales/Southside), his eighth of the season. Camarillo finished with three receptions for 89 yards, all coming in the first half. His 89 yards moved him into sixth all-time in TLU's Division-III history with 1,591 yards - surpassing Jekovan Holmes (1,546) and Darrell White (1,588).

Exavier Durham (Cuero/Cuero) also caught his first touchdown as a Bulldog in the first half via a 33-yard connection with Deitrick.

Kibreante Williams (Victoria/Victoria East), Tory Brooks (Hillsboro/Hillsboro), Reggie Hodge (San Antonio/Roosevelt), Micah Casson (Killeen/Copperas Cove), and Elijah Favela (San Antonio/Judson) all scored rushing touchdowns on Saturday. Williams led the Bulldogs with 65 yards rushing with Brooks following close behind with 62 yards of his own.

By halftime, TLU had a 360-65 advantage in total yards; the Bulldogs were piling up 7.8 yards per play while allowing 2.3. The Bulldogs compiled over ten explosive plays offensively on Saturday.

Texas Lutheran's defense didn't allow a touchdown until early in the fourth quarter. Justin Navarro (Edinburg/Robert Vela) had six tackles, an interception, and a forced fumble to help lead the effort. Troy Tomaselli (Castroville/Cornerstone Christian) led TLU with eight tackles and a forced fumble. Nicola Pari (San Antonio/Churchill) also forced a fumble.

Saturday's scoring began with a 37-yard field goal from A'Jean Augustine (Houston/Lamar). Durham's 33-yard receiving touchdown quickly made it 10-0.

Rushing touchdowns from Kibreante Williams and Tory Brooks sparked a 24-point second quarter for the Bulldogs. Camarillo dashed for a 63-yard touchdown before Augustine connected on a career-long 41-yard field goal to end the half.

Micah Casson ran for a touchdown in the third quarter, a period that saw the Bulldogs rush 12 times for 87 yards.

The fourth quarter saw freshmen quarterbacks Elijah Favela and Logan Rodriguez (Orange Grove/Orange Grove) appear under center with Favela and Reggie Hodge scoring the Bulldogs' final touchdowns of the day on the ground in the period.

Texas Lutheran will play in the first ever SCAC Championship game next week at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock, Arkansas as they pursue their second straight and fifth SCAC championship in program history.
