SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran women's soccer controlled a majority of the game and battled throughout, but ultimately fell short against Concordia (TX) in the 2025 SCAC Tournament Semifinals. The Tornados scored the winner in the 82nd minute to claim a 1-0 win Friday afternoon at Round Rock Multipurpose Complex.
The Bulldogs controlled possession - maintaining possession for 65 percent of the match and placing 13 shots on goal.
Despite 25 shots, the Bulldogs couldn't find the back of the net. Callie Brame (San Antonio/Churchill) and Lilly Noblett (San Antonio/Warren) led the Bulldogs with three shots on goal each.
The Bulldogs - a team picked to finish first in the preseason poll - conclude the 2025 season with a 12-4-2 record, going 9-0-1 in the SCAC to claim the first regular season championship in program history. The 2025 season proved to be among the best in program history. The Bulldogs set a new program record for conference winning percentage (.950) and allowed the fewest goals in a season in program history (11) with a program record of 0.61 goals against average. The Bulldogs would finish with 41 assists on the season, the third most in a single season led by eleven from Klarissa Martinez (Houston/Incarnate Word Academy), tying the program record while breaking the career record for assists with 23. Martinez became the third Bulldog in program history to earn SCAC Offensive Player of the Year while Noelani Ajel (Cibolo/Steele) became the first SCAC Defensive Player of the Year in program history. Alysa Marquez (Miami, FL/Dr. Michael Krop) finished the season with 5.5 shutouts and set a new single-season program record with a 0.65 goals against average. Eleven Texas Lutheran women's soccer players were all recognized by the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) headlined by Ajel, Brame, Martinez, Aliyah Fonseca (Harlingen/Harlingen), Jessica Robinson (Cibolo/Steele), and Ashlyn Suarez (Schertz/Clemens) who were named All-SCAC First Team. Texas Lutheran also had the first undefeated home season in program history, finishing 5-0-1 at Gustafson Field.
The Bulldogs will graduate eight seniors: Brame, Martinez, Robinson, Suarez, Ella Alvarado (Driftwood/Johnson), Ariana Gomez (San Antonio/Randolph), Bianca Ruiz (New Braunfels/Canyon), and Bella Ruiz (New Braunfels/Canyon).
