SEGUIN, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran men's soccer team picked up a 1-0 victory over Hendrix College Sunday evening at Gustafson Field. The Bulldogs improve to 5-3-2 overall and 3-0-1 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) while the Warriors fall to 2-6-2 and 1-2-1 in conference play.
Sophomore
Raymond Palmer (San Antonio/Clark) scored the lone goal in the contest, his second of the season, while
Evan Pacheco (San Antonio/Central Catholic) had his fourth assist of the year.
Overall, the Bulldogs outshot the Warriors, 17-7, with an 8-4 advantage in shots on goal. TLU also held a 6-2 edge in corner kicks.
The Bulldogs took the lead in the 26th minute as Pacheco found Palmer to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.Â
Texas Lutheran had a number of chances to tack on but seven shots were turned away by the Warriors.
Ernesto Avila (Houston/Humble) made four saves in goal for his fourth clean sheet of the season.
The Bulldogs will travel to Colorado Springs to face #RV Colorado College on Friday, Oct. 10, in a battle between two of the three teams currently tied for first in the SCAC.
