SEGUIN, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran Men's Soccer team (4-3-2, 2-0-1 SCAC) secured a key three points in a 4-1 win over the University of the Ozarks Eagles (2-6-2, 1-2 SCAC) Friday night at Gustafson Field.
Texas Lutheran got on the board first with a goal from freshman
Jesus Carrillo (San Antonio/Reagan) which came via an assist from fellow freshman
Max Guzman (San Marcos/San Marcos) in the 11th minute.
TLU didn't wait long to strike again as
Evan Bremauntz (Grapevine/Colleyville Heritage) found the back of the goal in the 15th minute.
A 23rd minute goal from the Eagles cut the Bulldogs lead in half as they would carry that 2-1 lead into halftime.
In the 63rd minute,
Carlos Longoria (Brownsville/Rivera) dished the ball off to
Nico Gonzalez (Houston/Cy-Park) to score his first career goal to make the game 3-1.
Then in the 82nd minute, Bremauntz set up senior
Juan Diego Ruiz (Brownsville/Rivera) for his first career goal to make it 4-1 Bulldogs.
Ernesto Avila (Houston/Humble), who earned his fourth win of the season, made three saves in-goal to help TLU maintain its advantage and cruise to the win.
Texas Lutheran outshot Ozarks 12-8, including 7-4 in shots on goal.
Texas Lutheran wraps its brief homestand on Sunday with a contest against Hendrix College at 2 PM which is scheduled to be the Bulldogs' annual Pink Out match. The match will be streamed on FloCollege. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
