IRVING, Texas -- Texas Lutheran men's soccer (6-4-2, 4-1-1 SCAC) got back in the win column on Sunday with a 3-1 win over the University of Dallas Crusaders (0-11-1, 0-6 SCAC) at Crusader Field in Irving, Texas.
The Crusaders dealt the first blow of the match at the 12:26 mark as the Crusaders took an early 1-0 lead.
However, TLU's deficit wouldn't last long. Freshman
Max Guzman (San Marcos/San Marcos) found fellow freshman and last week's SCAC Offensive Player of the Week
Jesus Carrillo (San Antonio/Reagan) for the equalizer in the 16th minute with his fourth goal of the season.
The Bulldogs weren't done as
Diego Sanchez (Humble/Atascocita) found
Zach Faiq (Round Rock/Stony Point) for a header in the 42nd minute to make it 2-1 Texas Lutheran. The goal was the first of Faiq's career with Sanchez notching his first assist of the season.
Then in the 73rd minute, Texas Lutheran tacked on one final goal as
Juan Diego Ruiz (Brownsville/Rivera) and
DJ Sassenhagen IV (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) set up
Nico Gonzalez (Houston/Cypress Park) for his second goal of the season and career to ice the match.
Texas Lutheran returns to Gustafson Field on Friday when they welcome the McMurry University War Hawks. First kick is scheduled for 7:30 PM. The match will be streamed on FloCollege. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
