Sotelo Scores 17 to Lead #RV TLU Past Ozarks (AR)

CLARKSVILLE, AR -- #RV TLU, who began receiving votes in the D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll for the first time in program history, absorbed Ozarks' (10-4, 4-1 SCAC) best shot in Mabee Gymnasium and emerged with an impressive 61-54 road win.

The Bulldogs have now won six-straight games, improving to 11-2 overall and 5-0 in SCAC contests. Ozarks (AR) falls to 10-4 overall and 4-1 in league contests. The Bulldogs are now one of only two remaining unbeatens in the 12-team league ahead of a Sunday afternoon tilt vs. Centenary in Shreveport.

The Texas Lutheran starting five combined for 40 of the Bulldogs 61 points led by Angelina Sotelo (San Marcos/San Marcos) who matched her season-high with 17 points and a team-high three steals. The junior point guard made seven of her last eight shot attempts and finished 7-for-10 from the field overall. Callista Perez (San Antonio/Stevens) was the next leading scorer with nine points off the bench and adding a team-high four steals and four assists. Perez would tie Kailee Mulkey (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) and Lauren Sansano (San Antonio/FEAST) with four assists each. Sarahi Jones (Los Fresnos/Los Fresnos) grabbed double-digit rebounds for the third time this season, finishing with 10 rebounds in addition to seven points.

The Bulldogs shot 44.3 percent from the field despite shooting an ice cold night from beyond the arc that saw TLU finish at 17.4 percent (4-for-23).

TLU assisted on 21 of its 27 field goals on the night.

Texas Lutheran, who entered Friday night as the second best defense in the SCAC, limited the Eagles to their second lowest scoring total of season as well as keeping Naomi Smith and Abby Beene who entered Friday's game as two of the SCAC"s leading scorers well under their season averages.

The Texas Lutheran bench outscored the Ozarks bench 21-8 led by Perez's nine points and a career-high six points from freshman Zaria Solis (Burnet/Burnet).
