WESTERVILLE, OH -- The Texas Lutheran men's soccer team concluded their Ohio trip with a 2-1 victory over Otterbein Sunday afternoon in Westerville, Ohio. The Bulldogs improve to 3-0-1 while the Cardinals fall to 2-2-0.
Senior Louis Hart (Missouri City/Ridge Point) scored his first goal of the season in the 22nd minute via an assist from Evan Pacheco (San Antonio/Central Catholic) to get the Bulldogs on the board. The Bulldogs would maintain their one goal advantage into halftime, with the patented TLU defense limiting the Cardinals to two shots in the half.
All-American Jack Manke (Houston/Stratford) scored the game-winning goal in the second half, his first of the season, to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead in the 72nd minute.
The Cardinals avoided the shutout with an 83rd minute goal. Goalkeeper Noel Pena (Houston/Cy-Falls) made four saves in goal for the Bulldogs.
Overall, the Bulldogs outshot the Cardinals 12-11, but Otterbein would have five shots on goal to the Bulldogs four.
The Bulldogs continue their month-long road trip on Friday, September 13 with a match at Hardin-Simmons. Kickoff from Abileine is scheduled for 7 PM. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
