ABILENE, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran men's tennis team competed in day two of the 2024 ITA Southwest Regional Championships hosted by Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene on Friday.
Doubles play opened on Friday as the team of Cashton Herrera (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) and Eric Moninger (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) dropped their opening round doubles match in the A Draw, 8-3. The B Draw was nicer to the Bulldogs, picking up a victory as the team of Logan Randall (Idalou/Idalou) & Rev Wicks won 8-3 over Hardin-Simmons while the team of Kadon Sullins (Kyle/Lehman) and JT Figueroa (New Braunfels/St. John Paul II) fell 8-3 to Schreiner.
Singles play continued on Friday as TLU participated in the B through D Draws. Logan Randall won his opening round match of the B Draw 6-4, 6-2 over UMHB before falling 6-2, 7-5 to McMurry in the second round.
Jackson Leslie (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) won his first round matchup in the C Draw 6-1, 6-0 over UMHB before falling in straight sets to Concordia (TX). Kadon Sullins would drop his initial C Draw match before winning 4-6, 6-3, 11-9, in the consolation bracket to advance to the semifinals of the consolation bracket.
Freshman Revel Wicks would win both of his matches in the D Draw on Friday. Wicks would win 6-4, 6-3 over Austin College before defeating Dallas 6-4, 6-1 to advance to the semifinal round of the Draw.
