SEGUIN, Texas -- Kailee Mulkey (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) scored a season-high 14 points as Texas Lutheran blew past Concordia University (TX), 56-41, Sunday evening at Memorial Gymnasium - extending their win streak to three games. The win marks their seventh straight over the Tornados.
Mulkey grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds in addition to four steals to lead the Bulldogs and record her first collegiate double-double.
Angelina Sotelo (San Marcos/San Marcos) tallied 12 points, four rebounds, and three assists, all career-highs for the freshman product from San Marcos.
Texas Lutheran moved to 3-3 on the season while Concordia (TX) fell to 1-3 with the loss.
The Bulldogs would lead by as many as nine points in the first quarter as they would take a 16-7 lead at the end of the first frame.
Mulkey and Sarahi Jones (Los Fresnos/Los Fresnos) scored 13 of the Bulldogs 15 points in the second quarter as Texas Lutheran outscored Concordia 31-16 in the first half. Texas Lutheran limited the Tornados to 19% shooting in the opening half.
Texas Lutheran would cruise through the second half, leading by as many as 24 points, as Texas Lutheran would secure their first wire-to-wire win of the season.
The Texas Lutheran bench erupted for 45 points including a career-high four points from freshman Emerald St. Laurent (The Woodlands/Oak Ridge). Sophomore Kayla Presley (Kyle/San Marcos) recorded eight rebounds and three steals, both career-highs.
