SEGUIN, TX -- Seniors Jamir Mason (Pearland/St. Thomas Episcopal) and Sebastian Andrade (El Paso/Americas) each scored season-highs of 24 points each but the shorthanded Bulldogs couldn't quite pull out the victory Friday night - falling to the University of Dallas Crusaders 74-73.

Sebastian Andrade scored 20 of his 24 points in the second half for Texas Lutheran and had an opportunity to win it at the buzzer but his patented floater rimmed out. Andrade and Mason carried the load for the shorthanded team also leading the squad in rebounds with seven and six rebounds respectively.

The Bulldogs (5-8, 3-2 SCAC) led 35-32 at halftime before the Crusaders (4-12, 2-6 SCAC) were able to go on an early run in the second half due to Bulldogs turnovers to swing the momentum and take a six-point lead. The Bulldogs would get back on track - tying the game 50-all courtesy of an Andrade three-pointer before the Crusaders would go on another run that would see them lead for a majority of the second half. With two minutes remaining, the Bulldogs gave a final push to steal a home victory - forcing turnovers and taking advantage of missed Crusaders free throws to close the gap to one and eventually take a one-point lead after a fast break layup from Mason with 25 seconds remaining. The Crusaders would respond with a step back two-point jumper to regain a one-point lead that would inevitably become a game-winner as the Bulldogs could not find the bottom of the net in the remaining eight seconds of the game.
