SAN ANTONIO, TX -- Texas Lutheran Volleyball swept Concordia (TX) 3-0 - winning all 3 sets 25-18 - to open the season Friday afternoon as they started their season in the 2021 Trinity Fall Classic.
The Bulldogs, who went 5-12 last spring, start their season with a quality win over a Concordia (TX) team that was picked to finish third in the American Southwest Conference.
Tanyse Moehrig-Woodard (Spring Branch/Smithson Valley) finished with 9 kills and 2 digs and senior Hayden Smyers (Needville/Needville) added 8 kills and 4 digs.
Freshman Shavonne Respondek (San Antonio/Madison) dished out 17 assists and had 10 digs - leading the team in both. Senior Lexi Morris (Victoria/Victoria West) also finished with 10 digs.
The Bulldogs established themselves early nearly leading the first set wire to wire. The final two sets were more competitive, but the Bulldogs held the point advantage for the majority of the match.
The Bulldogs will be back in action against Whitworth University on Saturday at 10 AM for their final game in the Trinity Fall Classic.
