SAN ANTONIO -- Texas Lutheran closed its 2021 season with a 5-0 loss Thursday to Schreiner in the quarterfinal round of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Championship.
TLU, the tournament's No. 6 seed, finished its season at 1-11 overall. Schreiner improved to 7-11.
The Mountaineers, the No. 3 seed, will play No. 2 seed Southwestern in the semifinal round.

Ryan Schulte lost a tight battle at No. 1 doubles, 8-7. Schreiner's team of Carson Kirk and Dennis Miller secured the point in the top doubles slot with a 7-4 win in the tiebreaker.
TLU lost at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles with scores of 8-2 and 8-0, respectively.
Schreiner ended the team match at 5-0 with 6-2, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-0 victories at No. 4 and No. 6 singles.
Singles matches at 1, 2, 3, and 5 were unfinished when Schreiner secured the required points for victory.
Thursday's match originally was scheduled to be played on Friday, but the match was moved to Thursday to avoid inclement weather.
