IRVING, Texas -- After dropping the series-opener 6-5 in 11 innings to the University of Dallas, Texas Lutheran Baseball responded with a 22-2 conference win over the Crusaders.
Heading into Sunday's series finale, TLU stands with an overall record of 15-8 and a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference mark of 7-1. Dallas is 6-14 overall and 4-7 in the SCAC.
The Bulldogs scored the 22 runs in the second game on 17 hits. The contest was shortened to seven innings because of the conference's 10-run rule.
TLU scored runs in every inning but the fifth. The Bulldogs led 9-0 after two and 14-0 after four innings.
Post was 2-for-4 with four RBI. Kinder was 2-for-2 with three runs scored and four RBI, and
Tyler Cauley went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and four RBI.
Reigning SCAC Pitcher of the Week
Joe Burch tossed another complete game. He went seven innings and struck out five. He allowed six hits and walked four. Burch improved to 4-1.
In the early game, Nicolas Hovde singled to center field to drive in the winning run in the 11th.
The game was tied at 4-4 from the fifth inning until the 10th, when each team scored a run.
Cole Irby was 3-for-5 in the early game. He had an RBI and a run scored.
Austin Colon and
Cullen Motsinger each had two hits. Colon scored a pair of runs.
Chase Cutler pitched four innings of shutout relief for TLU. He scattered three hits over the four innings.
TLU and Dallas play a single contest Sunday in Irving. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. at the UD Baseball Field.
