Texas Lutheran pushes win streak to 10 with doubleheader sweep of Schreiner

SEGUIN, Texas -- Third-ranked Texas Lutheran pushed its overall win streak to 10 and its conference record to 10-0 with a pair of home wins Thursday over Schreiner.
 
TLU won 3-1 and 4-3 over the Mountaineers.
 
The Bulldogs improved to 18-4 overall and to 10-0 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
 
Schreiner fell to 7-17 overall and to 2-6 in the SCAC.
 
In the early game, Kelly Jurden had a run scored, an RBI, and a stolen base, and Skylar Ouellette belted a solo home run.
 
Rebecca Snow was 1-for-2 with an RBI and a walk.
 
Sydney Ouellette appeared in relief in the third inning and pitched the final five innings of the game. She struck out three, scattered three hits and did not walk a batter.
 
Ouellette improved to 8-2 on the year.
 
In game two, Ouellette notched the save, her first of the year, with 1-2/3 innings of relief.
 
Chassety Raines picked up the win with 5-1/3 innings of work. She struck out three, walked one, and allowed two earned runs. She moved to 3-0.
 
Snow drove in a pair in the late game - with two sacrifice flies.
 
Jurden scored twice and had two stolen bases and a hit.
 
Skylar Ouellette and Haley Padilla each had an RBI in the second-game victory.
 
TLU and Schreiner play a second doubleheader at Ed Kruse Stadium on Friday. The first game will count as the third conference game of the series. The second game of the day will count as a non-conference contest.
 
First pitch of the doubleheader is set for noon.
