Bulldogs Grind Out 48-39 Win Over Concordia (TX)

AUSTIN, TX -- Freshman Kailee Mulkey (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) tallied a game-high 12 points and team-high 6 rebounds for the Bulldogs and Sydney Shaw (Lockhart/Lockhart) added 10 points Friday night to lead Texas Lutheran to a gritty 48-39 victory at Concordia Fieldhouse on the campus of Concordia University.

Mulkey finished 3-of-4 from the floor and 6-of-8 from the charity stripe.

Jayla Santa Maria (Edinburg/Edinburg) led the Bulldogs with 2 assists in addition to 4 points. Kailey Lacy (Pflugerville/Hendrickson) & Tanyse Moehrig (Spring Branch/Smithson Valley), making her season debut after an All-Conference volleyball season, recorded 6 points each.

The game was tied 11-all after one quarter before the Bulldogs would take advantage of a second quarter that saw the Tornadoes of Concordia University shoot 18.8% to take a 24-21 lead into halftime.

After falling behind after a third quarter that only saw the Bulldogs accumulate 4 points, the Bulldogs would outscore Concordia 20-7 in the fourth quarter to secure their second win of the season.

The Bulldogs return to Memorial Gymnasium on Monday to face the Lobos of Sul Ross State in non-conference action. Tip-off is set for 5 PM. All streaming and stat links can be found on tlubulldogs.com.
