AUSTIN -- Top-ranked and defending NCAA Division III national champion Texas Lutheran rolled to 10-0 and 10-1 victories over Concordia Texas Saturday afternoon at Tornado Softball Field
The Bulldogs moved to 4-0 on the season with the two non-conference wins. Concordia dropped to 2-2.
TLU won the first game in five innings as senior right-hander
Kayla Oliveira allowed just one hit in 4-1/3 innings. Oliveira improved to 2-0.
The Bulldogs scored six runs in the first inning of the first contest.
Kelly Jurden went 2-for-3 with a run scored and four RBI in the early game.
Rebecca Snow added three hits, a run scored, and an RBI.
Freshman right-hander
Ashlyn Strother also moved to 2-0 with a win in the Concordia series. In the late game, Strother tossed five shutout innings and struck out five. She did not issue a walk.
Sydney Ouellette tossed 1-1/3 innings of hitless relief in game two after she went 2/3 of an inning without surrendering a hit in game one.
Snow added two more hits in the second game, and
Chassety Raines went 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI.
In game two, the Bulldogs stole seven bases, and Jurden had three of the steals.
TLU broke open the second game with a five-run fifth.
In its four victories so far in 2020, the Bulldogs have out-scored opponents 31-2.
The Bulldogs head to East Texas next weekend for a Saturday non-conference doubleheader with LeTourneau University. Game times in Longview, Texas are set at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
