BROWNWOOD, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Women's Tennis improved to 4-1 overall with a 9-0 non-conference victory Saturday over Howard Payne, and the TLU Men nearly grabbed a road win in a 5-4 setback to the Yellow Jackets.
The Bulldog Women dropped only two games total in the six singles matches against HPU.
In doubles play, TLU won 8-3, 8-3, and 8-0.
Samantha Stafford, Mary Eby, Bailey Denton, and Liz Perkins each recorded 6-0, 6-0 wins in singles.
In the men's match, TLU trailed 2-1 after doubles but tied the match at 3-3 with early singles victories.
Dristan Weaver forced a third-set at No. 4 singles before ultimately losing the match 6-2, 1-6, 6-1.
TLU Women and Men host McMurry this coming Friday in the first home matches of the season for the Bulldogs. The matches are scheduled for 11 a.m. starts at TLU's Ohlenbusch-Rinn Tennis Center.
