IRVING, Texas -- Texas Lutheran freshmen right-handers
Ashlyn Strother and
Sydney Ouellette combined on a no-hitter in Saturday's 8-0 victory in the final game of the three-game series sweep of the University of Dallas.
The no-hitter was the 29th no-hitter in TLU Softball history.
TLU won 11-2 and 8-0 on Saturday after claiming a 9-1 victory on Friday night. All three games went just five innings.
The top-ranked Bulldogs, the defending NCAA Division III champions, improved to 11-0 overall and to 3-0 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
In the no-hitter, Strother (4-0) went four innings and struck out three. Ouellette tossed the fifth inning and struck out one.
The Bulldogs just missed a perfect game by issuing a walk in the first inning.
Dallas dropped to 4-9 overall and to 0-3 in the SCAC.
Bloxham also had two RBI in the first game Saturday.
Chassety Raines went three innings for the pitching win. Raines (2-0) allowed one earned run.
The Bulldogs next head to Tucson, Ariz. for 10 games from March 5-10 at the NFCA Leadoff Classic.
Among the opponents TLU will face in Arizona will be second-ranked Christopher Newport (Va.), No. 6 and last year's national runner-up Emory (Ga.), No. 3 Linfield (Ore.), and No. 5 Illinois Wesleyan (with last year's NCAA DIII Pitcher of the Year Ally Wiegand).
