SHREVEPORT, La. -- The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs pushed their win streak to five games and collected another key Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference road victory with Sunday's 79-75 win over Centenary College (La.).
In Centenary's Gold Dome, the Bulldogs out-scored the Gents 48-41 in the second half with the help of a 12-4 run in the middle of the half.
With the teams tied at 44-44 with 11:48 remaining in the game, the Bulldogs used that 12-4 spurt to take a 56-48 lead with 8:30 to play.
Jorden Kite started the run with a three-pointer, and
Jamir Mason hit a pair of threes and added a layup and a free throw in the key stretch.
TLU improved to 9-5 overall and to 6-1 in the SCAC. Centenary fell to 8-7 overall and to 5-3 in the SCAC.
In the loss column, TLU remains tied with St. Thomas (Texas) at the top of the SCAC standings. St. Thomas is 7-1 in league play and has a loss to the Bulldogs.
Kite led TLU with 18 points, and Mason added 15. Kite was 4-for-9 from the three-point line and 6-for-6 at the foul line. Kitted added seven rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block.
Mason was 5-for-11 from the field and 3-for-6 from the arc. He also contributed five rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block.
TLU shot 42.4 percent from the floor and 34.4 percent from the three-point line.
Centenary shot 42.2 percent from the floor and 36.8 percent from the arc. TLU made four more three-pointers and four more free throws than the Gents.
Cedric Harris scored 32 for Centenary. He added 10 rebounds. Ralph Johnson registered 19 points. Harris and Johnson were the only Gents in double figures.
TLU returns to action in Seguin this Friday and Saturday with home games against the University of Dallas and Austin College on Friday and Saturday, respectively. Friday's game is set for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off, and Saturday's tip is scheduled for 4 p.m.
