SHERMAN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Men's Tennis went 1-2 at the 2019 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tennis Championships and collected a sixth-place finish at the tournament.
TLU opened the tournament with a 5-0 loss to Austin College on Friday. The Bulldogs went 1-1 on Saturday with a 6-0 victory over Centenary College (La.) and a 9-0 loss to Colorado College.
In the 6-0 win over Centenary,
Mario Martinez (Houston/Cypress Creek) and
Jared Mason (Sugar Land/Travis) won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles, and the No. 2 doubles team of
Alex Talley (Live Oak/Judson) and
Jacob Galindo (Kingsville/King) won 8-0. The No. 3 doubles team of
Nick Roccaforte (Conroe/Conroe) and
Eric Wendt (Round Rock/Round Rock) also won 8-0.
Mason, Roccaforte and Wendt combined to drop only three games in singles play.
Saturday's matches were the final collegiate matches for TLU seniors Roccaforte and Wendt.
TLU concludes its 2019 season with an overall record of 5-12.
