SEGUIN, Texas -- Thursday at Katt-Isbel Field, fifth-ranked Texas Lutheran run-ruled Austin College 14-4 on a walk-off home run in the seventh inning from freshman shortstop
Joe Jimenez (San Antonio/Johnson).
Jimenez's home run, his first at the collegiate level, pushed the TLU advantage to 10 and ended the game early.
TLU moved its overall record to 25-8 and its win streak to six games. The Bulldogs, in first place in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, improved to 10-3 in the SCAC.
Austin College fell to 7-21 overall and to 3-10 in the SCAC.
Jimenez went 4-for-4, drove in four, and scored three times. He had a two-RBI triple in the second and an RBI single in the third.
Thomas Varner (Austin/Bowie),
Cole Irby (Buda/Hays) and
Cullen Motsinger (Houston/Cypress Ranch) each drove in a pair of runs. Irby went 3-for-4 with three runs scored.
Blade Strzelczyk (San Antonio/East Central) and
Spencer Brandt (Yoakum/Yoakum) each had two hits and scored twice, and
Tyler Cauley doubled, scored two runs, and walked four times (three time intentionally).
Junior left-hander
Corey Golan (La Grange/La Grange) picked up his first collegiate win with two innings of work against Austin College. He struck out two and allowed one run. Golan improved to 1-0.

TLU's 11 seniors will be recognized in a ceremony between the two games.
