Caleb Lister scored a career-high 18 points and grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds.
Jorden Kite chipped in 24 points.
TLU fell to 0-1 overall. HSU moved to 1-0.
Kyle Brennon scored 27 for the Cowboys.
TLU shot 42.2 percent from the floor and 35.5 percent from the three-point line.
HSU shot 44.9 percent from the floor and 44.4 percent from the arc.
TLU travels across Abilene for Saturday's 6 p.m. contest at McMurry University.
