SEGUIN, Texas -- Caleb Lister, a junior forward from Baytown, Texas, has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played from Friday, Nov. 8 through Sunday, Nov. 11.
Lister led the Bulldogs to a 1-1 record last week by averaging 22.5 points and 10.0 rebounds in the two contests, the first two starts of his collegiate career.
In TLU's 60-59 win over McMurry, Lister scored a career-high 27 points and made a career-best seven three-pointers.
In the overtime loss to Hardin-Simmons, Lister had 18 points and a career-high 15 rebounds.
Lister and the Bulldogs host Howard Payne at 6 p.m. Friday in Memorial Gymnasium (Jim Shuler Court). The game with HPU is TLU's home-opener. TLU will have live video and live stats for the contest. Links are available on tlubulldogs.com.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman Andray Thomas Jr. of Johnson & Wales, opened his collegiate career by averaging 22.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.3 blocks per game, earning a spot on the UC Santa Cruz Tipoff Classic All-Tournament team. Thomas posted a high of 41 points and 12 rebounds in 96-99 loss against Pacific. Sophomore David Nickell of Trinity, led the Tigers with an average of 12 points per game on a 57.9 shooting percentage during the Tigers first two contests of the season. Junior Michael Holland of Austin College, averaged a double-double to help Austin College open the year with a pair of wins, scoring 17 points and grabbing 11 boards in the 'Roos win over Howard Payne, followed by 12 points and nine rebounds in victory over Rhodes.
