SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Men's Soccer erupted for four second-half goals in a 4-1 win Sunday afternoon against Centenary College (La.).
TLU moved its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference mark to 3-2 and its overall record to 4-3.
Centenary fell to 0-6-1 in the SCAC and to 1-7-1 overall.
Sophomore midfielder
Andres Nicolaou (Houston/Kinkaid) delivered the first Bulldog goal, at the 46:34 mark of the match.
Less than a minute later,
Luis Green (Monterrey, Mexico/Smithson Valley (Texas)) scored his seventh goal of the season. The Green goal came at the 47:25 mark and was the result of an assist by Nicolaou.
Nicolas Medina (Houston/St. Pius X) registered his fifth goal of the season in the 59th minutes, and
Avian Wares (Dumfies, Va./Melissa) scored his second of the year, when he found the back of the net in the 78th minute. Nicolaou assisted on the Wares goal.
Centenary ended the TLU shutout bid with a Sethan Ward goal in the 84th minute.
The Bulldogs out-shot Centenary 25-8 and had a 14-2 edge in shots on goal.
TLU continues SCAC play next Friday with a 5 p.m. road match in Georgetown, Texas against Southwestern University.
