KERRVILLE, Texas-- Schreiner University Women's Basketball overcame a five-point halftime deficit and defeated Texas Lutheran 65-55 Saturday evening in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.Â
The Mountaineers improved to 6-15 overall and to 4-6 in the SCAC.Â
TLU dropped to 7-15 overall and to 3-8 in conference play with the loss.Â
In SU's Stephen's Family Arena, TLU shot 38.1 percent (24-for-63) for the game - shooting 37.8 percent in the first half and 38.5 in the second.
The Mountaineers hit 11 three-pointers, going 11-for-28 (39.3 percent) at the arc. The Mountaineers scored 21 points off of 19 TLU turnovers.Â
TLU out-rebounded SU 54-31, but SU improved its shooting percentage and made its way to the free throw line in the second half. The Mountaineers finished 14-for-18 from the foul line.Â
Dominique Campos (Alexander/Laredo) paced the Bulldogs with 15 points.
Abby Hroch (Calhoun/Port Lavaca) contributed 12 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. Hroch added four assists, two blocks and a steal.Â
Anna Koenig (Fredericksburg/Fredericksburg) put up nine points and grabbed six rebounds.
Cami Davis (Marion/Marion/UT-Tyler) collected nine rebounds, five points and two steals.Â
Schreiner's Jordyn Villa tallied 22 points to go along with her six rebounds and three steals. Kendra Brown led in rebounds with nine and scored 12 points for the Mountaineers. Brown added three assists, one block and three steals.Â
