AUSTIN â€" Texas Lutheran Women's Basketball opened its 2018-19 season with a convincing 74-63 road win Thursday against Concordia Texas.

TLU (1-0) opened a 24-14 lead in the first quarter by shooting 52.63 percent from the field.

The Bulldogs closed the game by shooting 64.29 percent in the fourth quarter.

TLU led by as many as 20 in the fourth quarter and never trailed in the game, although the Tornados moved within one point late in the second quarter.

Concordia dropped to 0-1 with the non-conference loss.

Senior guard
Cami Davis (Marion/Marion) led TLU with 17 points. She shot 5-for-7 from the field and 2-of-4 from the three-point line.

Davis added seven rebounds, four assists and three steals.

First-year forward
Morgan Rodriguez (New Braunfels/Canyon) contributed 16 points, seven rebounds and three assists. She made seven of her 11 shot attempts.

Junior guard
Dominique Campos (Laredo/Alexander) produced 12 points and four rebounds.

TLU out-rebounded Concordia 47-33 and led in offensive rebounds 12-8.

Junior forward
Anna Koenig (Fredericksburg/Fredericksburg) paced TLU on the boards. Koenig pulled down nine.

Abby Hroch (Port Lavaca/Calhoun) added eight points and six rebounds.

Seven different Bulldogs had at least four rebounds.

TLU held Concordia to 33.3 percent shooting overall and to 30.4 percent from the three-point line. The Tornados shot 46 threes but made only 14.

Next, the Bulldogs hit the road for a Saturday exhibition game against NCAA Division I squad University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Tip-off in Edinburg, Texas is set for 7 p.m.
