Trinity edges Texas Lutheran 3-2 in non-conference game at Katt-Isbel

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran fell 3-2 to Trinity University on Tuesday night in a non-conference game at TLU's Katt-Isbel Field.

Trinity right-fielder Jake Martin figured into all three Trinity runs. He singled and scored in the first, and he produced an RBI double in the third.

Martin's RBI triple in the seventh proved to be the game-winner.

Trinity, the defending NCAA Division III national champion, improved to 12-11 overall.

TLU dropped to 16-10.

The Bulldogs had the tying run at third and the winning run at first in the ninth. Trinity reliever Kevin Flores shut the door on the TLU comeback with a strikeout to end the game.

Flores picked up the save, his second of the year, and preserved the win for Chris Tate (2-2). Tate pitched 2-1/3 innings, allowing one unearned run. He struck out five.

Flores tossed two innings and struck out two. He allowed two hits.

Ethan Mueller (0-1) took the loss for TLU. Landon Weatherly started for TLU and went four innings. He struck out six, walked two and allowed two runs (one earned).
