BIRMINGHAM, Alab. -- Texas Lutheran Softball broke into the win column Saturday with road wins of 7-5 and 4-1 against No. 13-ranked Birmingham-Southern College.
TLU improved to 2-4 overall. BSC dropped to 2-4 overall.
In game one, third baseman
Kyla Lockley went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored, and
Nicole Snow added a two-RBI double in the sixth.
Madisyn Cates and
Kirsten Whiteside each had two hits, and Whiteside and
Cassie Roche each scored a pair of runs.
Amanda Lochte (1-1) picked up the win with 5-1/3 innings of work. She struck out two, walked one and allowed just one earned run.
In game two, Bulldog starter
Maitlin Raycroft (1-2) tossed a completed-game two-hitter. She struck out three, walked three and allowed just one earned run.
Roche contributed two hits, a run scored and an RBI, and
Alyssa Cantu went 1-for-3 with an RBI.
TLU stole five bases in the second game.
Kaymee Gooden had two steals to go along with her 1-for-2 hitting performance and run scored.
The Bulldogs wrap-up their road trip at noon tomorrow with a pair of games at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alab.
