KERRVILLE, Texas -- East Texas Baptist handed Texas Lutheran a 99-86 non-conference loss Saturday in the Schreiner University SCAC/ASC Classic.
The Bulldogs lost both games (to LeTourneau and ETBU) at the SCAC/ASC Classic and fell to 4-7 overall. ETBU won both games (versus Schreiner and TLU) in the Classic and improved to 8-2 overall.
At Stephens Family Arena, ETBU made 55 percent of its shots for the game and hit 52.6 percent from the three-point line. The Tigers made 10 of their 19 three-point attempts.
The Tigers held TLU to 39.7 percent shooting overall and to 29.6 percent from the arc.
ETBU out-rebounded TLU 45-32.
Nathan Fontenot led the Tigers with 30 points. He hit six three-pointers and went 10-for-10 at the free throw line. Robby Dooley added 15 points. Darrice Whitley contributed 12 points and 10 rebounds.
TLU received 21 points and six rebounds from
Jackson Willoughby and 19 points and two steals from
Jacob Kouremetis.
Alex Cage and
Nathan Josephs added 15 and 12 points, respectively. Josephs dished out six assists.
The Bulldogs hit the road on Jan. 5 and Jan. 7 for their first two Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference games of the season. In Shreveport, La., the Bulldogs face Centenary College (La.) at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 5. In Sherman, Texas on Jan. 7, the Bulldogs face Austin College at noon.
