SHREVEPORT, Texas-- Texas Lutheran freshmen forward
Raquel Morris scored the game-winning goal in second half to lift the Bulldogs to a 1-0 victory over Schreiner University in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women' Soccer Championship semifinal.
Morris' unassisted goal in the 61st minute found the back of the net after she made a fast break up the middle of the field, sinking the shot into the upper right corner.
For Morris, it was her fourth goal of the season.
TLU improved to 8-8-2 overall and now faces Trinity University in the SCAC Championship, set for a 1 p.m. start Sunday at the Centenary College's Mayo Field. The Bulldogs are 0-2 against Trinity.
TLU and Schreiner were tied in shots with nine but the Bulldogs had a 6-4 edge in shots on goal.
Morris and
Jaclyn Smolik led the squad in shots with two, respectively. Morris led in shots on goal with two while Smolik,
Kennedy Jobe,
Jessica Coronado, and
Calista Goode each registered one shot on goal for the Bulldogs.
The Mountaineers fell to 10-7-1 overall.
