Katie Morton - stand up in a 1-0 victory against Concordia Texas in the Bulldogs' 2016 home-opener.
Morton (Portland, Texas/Gregory-Portland) scored in the 15th minute with an assist from senior
Jaque Beck (Carlsbad, Calif./Carlsbad). Morton slipped a shot past the Concordia keeper on a drive from about 15 yards. The shot landed low in the left side of the net.
Erin Rose (San Antonio/Madison) and the Bulldog defense kept the Tornados scoreless for the match. Rose made three saves, and
Tara Armstrong (Lincoln, Calif./Whitney) headed a shot away from the front of the net in the second half.
TLU improved to 1-2-1 overall with the non-conference win. Concordia fell to 1-1-1.
The Bulldogs out-shot Concordia 13-10. Shots on goal were even at four.
TLU returns to Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play Friday and Sunday with home matches against Austin College and Centenary (La.), respectively.
