ABILENE, Texas -- Behind preseason All-American
Sterling Holmes' 25 points and 11 rebounds, Texas Lutheran Men's Basketball moved to 2-0 overall with an 80-72 road win Thursday night over McMurry University.
Holmes, a senior point guard from San Antonio, knocked down 10 of his 16 shot attempts and made three of his six three-point shots. He grabbed eight defensive and three offensive rebounds.
Holmes scored 14 of his 25 in the first half as TLU opened a 41-21 lead at the half.
Fellow senior
Zach Behr made seven of his 11 shots and scored 17 points. Behr added four rebounds and three assists.
Senior shooting guard
Jordan Kouremetis chipped in 14 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals.
TLU made 47.6 percent of its shots for the game and held McMurry to 41.9 percent. The War Hawks made only 9-of-29 (.310) shots in the first half.
From the three-point line, the Bulldogs made nine in 23 attempts, including 5-for-10 in the second half.
The Bulldogs continue their Abilene road trip with a 4 p.m. contest Saturday against Hardin-Simmons.
