SEGUIN, Texas -- After a pair of tough, five-set losses on Friday, Texas Lutheran Volleyball rebounded Saturday with a three-set win over Sul Ross State and a four-set win over Concordia Texas.
TLU defeated Sul Ross 25-12, 25-7, 25-11 and Concordia Texas 25-23, 25-20, 19-25, 25-22.
TLU's overall record now stands at 14-16 overall after a 2-2 performance at the TLU Invitational. All matches this weekend were non-conference contests for the Bulldogs.
In Saturday's action versus Sul Ross State, senior outside hitter
Kristin Fording led the Bulldogs with nine kills.
Carlie Childres and
Alexis Davis each recorded four kills.
Jaci Chambers delivered 12 assists, and
Mathis Popelsky received credit for eight digs.
In the win over Concordia Texas, Fording posted 17 kills and three blocks.
Makenzie Griffin added nine kills and a block.
Seniors
Mackenzie Zamarripa and
Carlie Childres each recorded six kills. Childres tallied four blocks.
Popelsky picked up 36 digs, and Chambers led the Bulldogs in assists, with 27.
The Bulldogs will enter next weekend's Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship as the No. 6 seed. TLU faces No. 3 seed Colorado College in the tournament opener.
