SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran forward
Selena Wicklund headed home the winning goal in the first overtime to send the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs to a 2-1 conference win Friday night against Schreiner University.
Wicklund, a sophomore transfer, scored the first goal of her Bulldog collegiate career.
Katie Morton delivered the assist on the game-winner.
Wicklund's goal came at the 97:11 mark.
Texas Lutheran improved to 7-3-4 overall and to 5-2-3 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Schreiner fell to 8-4-3 overall and to 6-3-1 in the SCAC.
Jaclyn Smolik gave TLU a 1-0 lead in the 35th minute by knocking home a goal off a corner kick from
Tara Armstrong.
Schreiner came back less than four minutes later with a goal from Cailee Morgan off an assist from Chloe Luna.
Schreiner held a 13-9 overall edge in shot on goal. The Mountaineers had a 7-1 edge in the second half.
But TLU had the lone shot of the overtime and made it count. Overall, TLU led in shots on goal, 7-4.
Jordin Toso made five saves for Schreiner.
Erin Rose tallied three saves for TLU.
The Bulldogs host No. 3-ranked Trinity at 2 p.m. Sunday at TLU's Gustafson Field.
