TLU Volleyball captures two more wins, improves to 10-1 overall

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Volleyball took home a pair of victories Saturday at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Divisional Tournament, hosted by Trinity University. TLU defeated Centenary in three sets in the 10:30 a.m. match and downed University of Dallas in five sets in the 5 p.m. match.

TLU moved its overall record to 10-1 overall and to 4-1 in the SCAC.

The Bulldogs defeated Centenary 25-14, 25-22, 25-16 as Kristin Fording, TLU's junior outside hitter, recorded 19 kills and hit .500 for the match. Fording added 10 digs, a block, and five aces.

Megan Dugie collected 21 digs, and Kelcie Ingram dished out 19 assists.

Against Dallas, TLU won the first two sets in convincing fashion, 25-17 and 25-9, before Dallas posted 25-22 and 25-18 win in sets three and four. TLU took the fifth set 15-11.

Fording again led TLU with 19 kills and 61 total attempts. She also produced 18 digs, four block assists and three aces.

Dugie registered 32 digs and six assists, and Ingram tallied 29 assists. Middle blocker Carlie Childres recorded five block assists and a block solo.

Brette Threadgill and Mackenzie Zamarrippa added 13 kills and nine kills, respectively, against Dallas.

TLU continues play Sunday in the SCAC Divisional Tournament. The Bulldogs face Top 25-ranked Colorado College at noon and Austin College at 4 p.m., all at Trinity University in San Antonio.
